January 28, 2023, Brooklyn, NY — Seaport Global’s Diversity & Inclusion committee continues its partnership with the New Heights organization for support, mentorship and philanthropic growth of underserved youth.

The New Heights Youth, Inc. is a non-profit sports-based youth development and education organization based In NYC.  New Heights creates opportunities and provides support for promising youth to fulfill their potential in the classroom, on the court and in the community. Its mission is to educate and empower promising underserved youth to be leaders, champions and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.

As a part of this ongoing structured partnership, Seaport employees conducted a career and finance workshop on January 28, 2024. The group worked with over 50 students ages 7-14.  They presented on careers and professions outside of the NBA/WNBA with focus on education, preparation, budgeting, savings and investing. The students are bright, engaging and eager to explore the world of finance.

Ted Smith, Executive Director of New Heights said “Seaport Global has become a core partner of ours for several years. I want to thank the whole team for all your time, efforts and support. The career exposure workshops were very impactful and helped show our youth different career paths and options. Everyone involved was engaged and positive and there was great dialogue throughout. From the snacks to the presentations to your insights, your team took a comprehensive approach to supporting our youth, and it truly paid off – THANK YOU!!”
