May 6, 2026 – Brooklyn, NY — Professionals from Seaport Global Securities partnered with New Heights Youth, Inc. to deliver an engaging and informative Financial Literacy Workshop for high school student-athletes in Brooklyn, NY.

Dolph Tokarczyk, Tunde Jackson (NH), Greg Louis NH), Joan Nash, Laura Schwartz, Steve Shaw and Ted Smith, Executive Director of New Heights.

The workshop was led by Seaport Global team members Joan Nash, Laura Schwartz, Steve Shaw, and Dolph Tokarczyk, who shared practical financial knowledge designed to help students prepare for college, future careers, and long-term financial success.

Throughout the interactive session, students explored a wide range of real-world financial topics including saving for college, understanding credit scores, buying versus leasing a car, avoiding debt, compound interest, saving regularly, and short- versus long-term investing strategies.

Designed to connect with student-athletes in a relatable way, the presentation incorporated real-life examples, financial exercises, and discussions around both successful and unsuccessful financial decisions made by professional athletes. Students also participated in hands-on activities focused on budgeting, loan payments, credit utilization, and the power of long-term investing.

“Our goal was to provide students with practical tools that empower them to make informed financial decisions early in life,” said Joan Nash, Corporate Affairs Director at Seaport Global Securities. “Financial literacy is one of the most important life skills young people can develop, and we were honored to support the incredible work New Heights is doing for these students.”

The workshop emphasized the importance of responsible financial habits, including paying credit obligations on time, understanding interest and debt, establishing savings goals, and beginning to invest early to maximize the benefits of compound growth.

New Heights later recognized the Seaport Global team on LinkedIn, thanking the firm for “leading an informative financial literacy workshop” and for sharing valuable information around investing, savings, debt, and credit cards to help prepare student-athletes for college and beyond.

Ted Smith, Executive Director of New Heights said “Our ongoing relationship with Seaport Global has been a model for us to engage with corporate partners. We have hosted multiple workshops together over the years, and the Seaport team always brings valuable insights, practical knowledge and critical life experiences that help our student-athletes on and off the court.
